Through va’ad learning, text study, discussion, and practice, each session explores a specific middah and how it can be cultivated through Shabbat experience. All are welcome to this warm, supportive space for growth, connection, and meaningful change.

The Glory of Humanity: Part II

Join us to study the writings of Rabbi Yerucham Levovitz (1875-1936). Reb Yerucham, who was called “The Mashgiach” from among the Mussar masters, developed his unique approach as a student of both Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Finkel, the Alter of Slabodka, and Rabbi Simcha Zissel Ziv, the Alter of Kelm. 

Our course will primarily be based upon Rav Yerucham’s principles and approaches.

Part 2 will focus on “Serving the other”, we will explore living our lives in the service of others within the context of serving the Other (God) – Open to all participants with appropriate Mussar study experience. Completion of Part I is not required.

Pause, Prayer, Practice: Being in the Presence of Elul is a seven-week journey designed to help you prepare for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur through Mussar learning, reflection, prayer, community, and personal practice.

Through weekly teachings, discussion, journaling, prayer, and guided practices, we will explore how to enter the High Holy Days with greater awareness, purpose, and hope.

Aging Soulfully With Mussar

Intermediate Course

10/6 – 11/17

This new course is designed to help mature Mussar practitioners apply a select number of highly relevant middot to the changes in their later lives. Using Alan Morinis’s book, Everyday Holiness, as the primary source text, supplemented by additional readings from Jewish, scientific, and journalistic sources, participants will be led to apply eight middot as they surface in the challenges faced by aging and the transitions of life. The goal for the course is to enable people to accept the transition of aging with grace and to offer practices for feeling valued, despite the limitations that aging often presents.
